Start Each Week With Purpose

There’s something energizing about the start of each new week, but we tend to feel it even more at the start of a new month.

Every day, we are given a chance to wake up with purpose, and to go after our dreams fiercely, as if we’ve never failed before.

Sometimes, though, by day three or four, the motivation starts lagging, and we start looking to the weekend as the light at the end of the tunnel. And then, before we know it, here Monday is again, ready for us, whether we are ready for it or not.

Wouldn’t it be great if every day could feel like the start of a new month, or even a new year, full of new and exciting opportunities?

Well, guess what? Since it’s your mind and you are in control of how you feel, you can decide what each day is going to feel like when you wake up.

“I am not a product of my circumstances; I am a product of my decisions.”

~ Stephen Covey

Chances are, you might just need an attitude adjustment. It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily routines, doing things on autopilot, and constantly feeling like there isn’t enough time in the day for everything we want to accomplish.

The problem, however, isn’t usually a lack of time, but that we have unrealistic expectations.

We sometimes get so stuck in the day-to-day that we forget what our bigger picture goals are, or we fill our time with things that aren’t helping us to achieve those goals. We often forget to pause now and then, to make sure we’re still on the right path.

There are always going to be things that have to get done, or that pop up last minute unexpectedly, taking up our precious time. But besides those things, everything else is within our control.

“If you don’t pay appropriate attention to what has your attention, it will take more of your attention than it deserves.”

~ David Allen

So, I challenge you to take a look at what’s on your plate for today, and for this week.

Now, think about what you could do this week or this month that would get you closer to reaching one of your most important goals.

If not, fit it in!

Take out something that isn’t urgent, or something that isn’t serving your future self

You may be surprised at how easy it becomes to fit the right things into your day when you approach each day with purpose and intention.
